Ignacio González Díaz de la Serna, Ph.D.

Professor Díaz did graduate work at the Complutense University of Madrid and received his doctorate in philosophy from the UNAM. He is part of the Area of Strategic Studies, and a member of the National System of Researchers. He was co-editor-in-chief of CISAN’s academic journal, Norteamérica, revista académica, from 2006 to 2009.

Among the honors he has received are the Carlos Pellicer Ibero-American Prize for Poetry, awarded by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (1989); the 1999 National Fund for Culture and the Arts fellowship for literary translation (2000-2001); and the “Recognition of the Desirable Profile for Full-Time Professors” given by the Ministry of Public Education/Vice-Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research/Program for Faculty Development (Promep) (2003-2006).

He currently teaches in the School of Philosophy and Letters Master’s and Doctoral Programs, and also acts as a thesis advisor (political philosophy, philosophy of culture).

As a result of his research, he authored the book Franklin y Jefferson: entre dos revoluciones. Inicios de la política internacional estadunidense (Franklin and Jefferson: Between Two Revolutions. The Inception of U.S. International Policy) (CISAN-UNAM, 2009). And soon to come out is Los dioses llegaron tarde a Filadelfia. Una dimensión mitohistórica de la soberanía (The Gods Came Late to Philadelphia. A Mythical-historic Dimension of Sovereignty).
