Georgina Araceli Torres Vargas, Ph.D.
|
Georgina Araceli Torres holds a doctorate in Information Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), Spain, where she obtained outstanding cum laude, as well as a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in Librarianship from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UNAM.
In IIBI she is a full-time and head researcher B. She has the level C of PRIDE and belongs to the National System of Researchers with a Category II.
Her work focuses on the area of information and knowledge technologies. She obtained support from Conacyt for the development of an initiative in installation projects and directed a PAPIIT project in the modality of Technological Innovation for the Implementation of Digital Libraries.
She is coordinator of the Digital Library Seminar and participates in projects with other institutes of the UNAM, as well as in some groups with institutions in Argentina, Ecuador, Spain and Portugal.
She has written books as The University in its publications: history and perspectives and The virtual library what is and what promises? Her recognition at the national and foreign levels for the study of ICT and related aspects is observed in almost 300 citations to his works and in the reviews of his works in the United States, Spain, Venezuela and Cuba, among others.
She is tutor of the Postgraduate in Library and Information Studies of the UNAM. She has taught courses in Spain, Portugal, Peru and conducted two research stays: one at the Lusitanian Polytechnic Institute of Porto and another at the UCM.
She is the director of the journal Librarian Research: "Archivonomía, Bibliotecología e Información", which publishes the IIBI and has been invited to be part of groups of reviewers of national and foreign magazines, among them the magazine Vine: The journal of information and knowledge management; The Journal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, edited by the International Institute of Informatics and Systemics, reviewer for the International Journal of Library and Information Studies; Educational Profiles (IISUE, UNAM) and the General Journal of Information and Documentation, Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
