Eugenia Allier Montaño, Ph.D.

PhD in History, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris. Researcher at the Institute for Social Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a professor at the School of Latin-American Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities at the same university. Her last book is The Struggle for Memory in Latin America. Recent History and Political Violence, edited with Emilio Crenzel (New York, Palgrave, 2015), published in spanish as Las luchas por la memoria en América Latina. Historia reciente y violencia política (México, Bonilla Artiga Editores / IISUNAM, 2015; and Madrid, Iberoamericana, 2016). She is author of Batallas de la memoria. Los usos políticos del pasado reciente en Uruguay(Montevideo, Trilce-IISUNAM, 2010), wich won the Honorable Mention on the contest “Mejor libro en Historia Reciente y Memoria 2012” of the Recent History and Memory Section of the Latin American Studies Association. She has been charged with the Chair d’Études du Mexique Contemporain at the Université de Montréal.
